Small Talk: An Interview with Priceless Beauty
Her studio in Pickering hits you with feminine pinks, uplifting quotes and instant inspiration. She has designed it to be intentional and inviting and that is exactly how you feel. Pamela is undeniably hard working and consistent. A bride could not ask for more from their makeup artist. I am so excited to share more into this beautiful woman's world. Enjoy!
What inspired you to start Priceless Beauty?
I have always had a passion for creating art & beauty. When I attended college for Fashion Arts I was introduced to cosmetics. I knew right away that makeup was the direction I was going to take. Priceless Beauty has has evolved from Pamela Price Makeup to Priceless Makeup & now Priceless Beauty. As my vision has grown so has my brand. It really has been a natural progression from a small desire to like to paint faces on a canvas to a much more rewarding canvases- women! We now have a studio and a team of 10 beauty professionals helping women look & feel their best for whatever their special occasion may be.
What is your favourite thing about working for yourself?
My mind never stops....I have literally have hundreds of ideas floating around in my head at any given time. I love that I can grab one of these areas and then turn it into reality. I just love the creative freedom of self employment.
What is the first thing you do every morning?
I brush my teeth, pour a glass of water with, squeeze a half of lime, I take out my notebook & my cell phone & I do a daily devotional, I pray & do gratitude. I think it is so important to take time for yourself each morning to set intentions for your day and give thanks for everything you have and everything you are about to receive. I often include breathing and meditation techniques. I do this before the chaos starts as I hear the little peoples feet hit the floor above me. Me time with the creator.
How do you define success?
"Success is really nothing more than the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. This means that any person who knows what they are doing and where they are going is a success. Any person with a goal towards which they are working is a successful person."
I got this definition from a mentor I follow Bob Proctor & I believe it to be true.
What is your biggest regret?
I think everything always works together for our good and that even so called mistakes or wrong turns are there for a reason and they are designed to help us learn and grow. So I can say with confidence that I have no regrets.
How do you overcome a set back?
Speak with tribe, my group of people who have gone through the fire but are now stronger and wiser.
I also pray and seek counsel from mentors.
I read & listen to a lot of personal development books and follow podcasts which encourage and inspire me to persist.
I take a break if I need do but I don't quit. Quitting isn't an option.
What is your biggest "Ah-Ha" moment?
That the only thing stopping me from achieving my goals are the limitations I have set in my own mind.
These are paradigms that place fear and doubt into my mind which make me "think" I can not accomplish something. These are B*LL SH*T ( excuse my french). When we set our minds to something, focus on this as actually happening the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
Please don't think I don't have any fears or that I am have achieved everything I have ever wanted to. I have to tell myself this every day on repeat so that I can believe it each and every time I face a new obstacle or setback or I have another outrageous idea that I would like to accomplish. It is journey. But each time you reach a new level it increases your faith to believe this again or a little bit more.
What is a non-negotiable in your business?
People who are compassionate & passionate about others and what we do!
What is the best advice you ever received?
"Bet on yourself."
What is an ideal timeline for booking a makeup artist for your wedding?
We recommend 6-9 months but we often get bookings over a year in advance. If you know we are a preferred vendor for your big day, contact us as soon as you have a date picked and your venue confirmed.
If you could tell one perspective client one thing what would it be?
Have a clear vision of what you what from your bridal beauty provider but be open to their professional advise as well.
We have done hundreds of weddings and we understand what it takes to prepare a group of ladies on a very hectic morning. Trust us to help your wedding morning be one of the best memories of your wedding day.
What upcoming makeup trends are you seeing?
We are really hoping a more natural bridal style makes a strong comeback.
I think with a digital world full of over edited selfies we would like to see authenticity and true beauty shining its pretty face back on to the wedding scene. Brides are real people not 18 year old models. Our goal is to impact the industry in a way that women feel beautiful being themselves. Of course we will polish and refine but we think your guests & GROOM should recognize you when you walk down the isle. We feel that heavy, cake-y overdone and over contoured makeups are on its way out.
What's next for Priceless Beauty?
We have a lot of new things underway.
We just got news that we were nominated for Bridal Makeup & Hair of the year from The Toronto Hair & Beauty Awards so that is super exciting!
I will also be competing in the Revel in Beauty Live Bridal Makeup competition at the Metro Convention Centre next month. This is always nerve racking but I love the thrill and adrenaline rush you get from live events. We will also be introducing some online makeup courses in the next few months. You will have to stay tuned with our social media pages to be in the loop on whats happening with Priceless Beauty!
